The Real Powers

It is of the utmost importance that we first understand the nature of the present political confrontation, this sad split-up of the country between a conservative (that means, cardboard Catholics to whom money is the most important value, and they middle class gullible followers) right, and a more people-oriented, but not quite so, left wing (as they call themselves), before Mexicans go on insulting and abusing each other, thinking that the candidate they voted for was, or is going to make a real difference. Perhaps we should start -precisely- by saying that there is almost no relation between the goals that each party claims will be pursuing, given the case they assume "power", and what they will be really capable of doing in such a case. The truth be said, that's not their fault.
Global economy's rules cannot be defied or challenged, not at least without the risk of cuban-like poverty and isolation. Those rules states that third world countries are supposed to remain third world countries, but their economy has to work properly, so the cash flow -in the form of commercial deficit and loan interest- can proceed uninterrupted, safe from crashes and out-of-control inflation scenarios. To make sure that the economy of those (in this subtle way exploited) third world countries does not deviate from its proper course is the mission of the REAL powers operating on each one of them; namely, the bank owners, the heavy stockholders and the international investors; whose in turn are handsomely paid -by the very people they farm, through the so called congress and government- with insolent revenue privileges and cheap handwork. Not to mention the opportunity they have, from time to time, to promote general corruption in order to increase their own wealth, as with the sledge hammer frauds called FOBAPROA and IPAB.
So, for any politician would be all but impossible to change those sinister dynamics and, at the same time, keep the illustrated slavery (managers, office workers) and the slaves themselves well fed. Besides, they are in love with the belief that they are doing something valuable and important with the "work" they do for the remote Empire, and taking that away from them without resistance is almost as difficult as to deviate unharmed from the rules of global economics.
That's the reason why there was no change at all in year 2000, and that's the reason why Calderón "won" the election in 2006, so things can go smoothly forward in the BIG interest of México.
The sad part of the story is that, had AMLO won, the "change" would have no better chances that with Calderón. But perhaps with him is lost the opportunity to create a small gap in the system, trough which begin the formation of a new force, an opposite thrust to the hitherto unchallenged work-and-be-fed third world scheme; a truly national movement focused on a real education system, capable of raising politically intelligent citizens, and not robots useful only to do business in offices, or work in factories; that know how to read but don't care to do so. Sadly, we will never know.

And I feel like puking my guts off when the professor talks about that shit!
